Moving on!

I'm going to break some rules, I'm going to post a
self portrait I've done in zorn palette.
This is the first time I've ever done a self portrait.
Some folks say I made my head to wide. Others say
I look too old.
I'm just a big ape trying to swing through this jungle.
(and a little wine!)
Don't throw tomatos, I prefer bananas : )
oil on gesso'd board 5"x5"

I can't believe that this is your first self-portrait~! It's so wonderful, Bill. The colors and brushwork are delicious. More of this!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill I love this self portrait!!! The colors are wonderful!!! It's also nice to put a face to the teacher of our gilding class :) Nice to meet you Bill...I see that you like to paint tiny paintings also~~~

haha "too old" "too wide" --I bet there is more of you here than not. My self portraits are quite humorous because I alternatively make myself too young and pretty and too old and frumpy. There doesn't seem to be much in-between. BUT, it is such a great exercise for the painter! I certainly like how you've presented yourself--very direct, probably a hint to your personality.

Your self portrait is magnificent for your first and using the Zorn palette. The thing I focused on war your kind and soulful eyes.

Love the teeny tiny painting! where did you get such a small canvas?

Oh and I forgot to tell you how so very impressed I am with your gilding skills. When I'm rich and famous, I'd love to own one of your frames.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog;
Today i'm discovering your's and i'm very surprise to take cognizance of your self portrait. It's always difficult to paint this and i find it very well. I love the harmonious whole with beautiful colors and light.
Sorry my english is bad but if you're ok i'll go back in your blog.
Kindest regards.

Decided to check in on you and knew it was a self-portrait before even reading any of the blog. Beautiful work as always! The portrait does remind me of Manuel on the TV show "Medium" though...I love that show...Anyway, say hi to Renee and hope all is going well with you and the family! Have to find some bananas in this town...seems like someone else has cleaned out the area. :)
