Spring flowers

Happy Spring everybody!
The flowers are blooming and the buds are out.
I painted this years ago, and have always had
it on the wall.
I garden veggies, my wife gardens flowers,
however a painting of cucumbers might look a bit
silly. (I make hot dill pickles.)
I saw this picture in a magazine, and decided to
paint my version of it. I hope you like it!
16"x20" oil on canvas

Bill... wow! You keep surprising me with more and more great paintings.... This one is really well done! Did you like doing that fine detail, or do you prefer the more "painterly" approach?
Emboldened by your seascape, I tried my very first one today too... It's not finished, but I had fun. Having to make it all up is hard though...
keep posting those paintings!

It's a beauty, Bill- was this from a painting, or a photograph, you saw?
You have quite a few 'keepers' from the past!

Hey Jonathan Thanks! Still a little early yet to start the garden, but I did transplant some rubarb!

Thank you Jan! And yourself!:)

Thank you Deb!I like to study academic painting, however I prefer a more impressionistic application today. There's more than one way to approch a canvas...I hope to see your seascape! Thanks again Deb!

Thank you Tina! I've gotten offers, but it stayed on the wall!

Thank you Cindy!

Thank you Martine! J' appre'cie votre artisticness!

Thank you Judy!It was a picture of a painting I
saw in Art & Antiques magazine, back in 1985!
(I painted it the summer of 85, but not sure what month & year the magazine was)I think I still have it, I'll look and let you know! :)
Most everything is gone. I had painted a lot of paintings. I sold /gave/ culled !
I'm starting over.

Thanks to all of you! I mean it! Your supportive comments inspire me to continue painting!

what a remarkable painting...so well done! But I know what you mean about preferring another style now. I have an airbrush painting that I did many years ago..I did a very good job on it...but I very much doubt that I would do another airbrush. I still like it--but I won't work like that again. Isn't that funny...that we are adamant about what we like style wise? Makes me wonder if in 10 years if we'd say--"oh THIS. I don't like this anymore". I guess this is the interesting thing about painting--it is a continual "evolution". Thanks for showing us this--it is awfully good!

Thanks Bruce! Here in Minnesota,we are happy to get an early spring!(but the snow shovel isn't put away yet!)
Stapleton Kerns has brought the sea to us here in the midwest, I hope to paint more!

Thanks Celeste! As much as I like to post current paintings, I also want to show some of my past art.
As with evrything in life, there is progression,(hopefully), and I'm happy to approuch the 'canvas' differently than in the past.
Thank you for the daily inspiration you give,
I'm working towards a daily post myself!(best I can do now is once a week or so!)
