Minneapolis

It's been getting humid, there's a haze hanging in the air.
Feels like it should rain soon!
This is a studio view looking at downtown from nordeast.
I asked myself , how would Winslow Homer paint this?
(He probably wouldn't) but if he did, he might see it from
the roof tops.
oil on gesso'd board 5"x5.5" (I putzed on this 2hrs.)

Nice Bill! 2 hours- I can't do anything in 2 hours; that's a big problem for me, painting better while at the same time trying to move faster. But you're a good putzer!

Hey Celeste! Thanks! The hot haze blurred the details of the buildings. Later that evening it stormed heavily, some folks lost trees!

Hi Judy! Thanks! Iv'e been experimenting from things I read on blog posts. The sky and buildings are maganese blue & naples yellow light,+ white. Art & Influence, (Arman Cabrera)
mentioned this blue, I will putz with it some more!
Also Stapelton Kerns offers a perspective on painting, paintings, and artists! His manner of
blogging has helped! Recently he's posted on
Winslow Homer, and I'm enjoying it more than anything.
I call it putzin' because it's experimental and fun. I'm not so serious about details, and more interested in poetic-ness of the piece!

Thanks Frank! I hope to paint more often. My goal is to get past my biggest fears.

Gilberto! Halo! I have been thinking of you! (a two hr. stretch even sounds great!)

Thank you all for your encouragement and support! It means a lot to me, thanks!

Bill this is a wonderful cityscape!!! I love the style and the palette...
By the way, it did storm that day and the photos I listed on my blog show how we were hit here south of Hastings. It was pretty scarey! We had a wall cloud right over our house...talk about being under a dark cloud :)

Hi Jan! Wow, I saw the pictures you posted, that storm was pretty bad indeed!
Some times recovery can be slow, so please don't fret to much,(I know)it can get exhausting.
Your painting of the cottage in the woods is wonderful!
