Winter Robin

I went to Deardorff Apple Orchard to look around for things to paint.
They now have a winery called Parley Lake. This was there first year,
and the Parley Vue is a hit!
They have several types of wine.
I may have a foot in the door to sell some art at the Orchard/ Winery
store on location.

Anyway..I spotted a robin eating crabapples.
A rare site & cool to me. (5'x7' oil on gesso'd board)
I thought this would make a nice Christmas post.
Thanks everyone for stopping by to see my blog.

Merry Christmas!

This is adorable and so Christmas-y! The Orchard sounds like a delightful place to sell some art.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Nice brushwork- I like the way the bird looks active, not 'stiffly' painted. Your abstract background gives a nice cool feeling, so that you know it isn't Spring. The more I look at it, I see a bit of Asian style in it- so much packed into a little work!

Thanks Johnathan! I was tring to paint "cold"
but in a spirited sort of way.
The robin kept fluttering his wings, like saying "dang it's cold"
Have a Merry Christmas Johnatan!!

Thanks Judy! Those are pine trees in the background. I stroked the brush in a "flutter"
effect to mimic the robins' wings.
I hadn't considered an Asian look, but now that you've mentioned it.. it does!
Egg rolls anyone!(ha)
Merry Christmas Judy!!

Hi back to "You" Bill!.... Thank you for visiting my site... and for your encouraging comments!

Love your site... observations... urban themes... and your positive and humourous "take" on life!

Your robin ... "on the heels of" your snow post adds more than the "Christmassy" touch suggested. The robin's return is a symbol of Hope for "Us" up in the "Great White North"... actual temperature of -17 C this morning at 5:30 am when I arose. Hope for Sunny Days... Spring... Summer.. and the Shedding... of three to five layers of combersome outerwear!

I'll be checkin' in on "You"

Good Painting... and a Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
Bruce
