Morning sketch

I arrived in Albuquerque New Mexico early this week. Tuesday morning, I went out
to sketch this scene. I used pastel and pencil on a moleskin. I hope to do a studio
painting from it. Forgive the lighting, it's the best I have for now. I got back to Minnesota
yesterday evening and want to post this.

Kind of has an oriental feel to it. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this.

I love it. It could feel oriental. I also think it feels "survival-ish" if that makes sense. I see the middle tree being uprooted and making the next tree lean over. I want to know what the trees are thinking, especially the untouched one on the left. This could be the center of an entire story. The color also suggests fire or despair, with a patch of sky showing through. I love it!

Thanks James! I do intend to make this into a painting. I will post it once it's finished.

Thank you Marrisa! I'm glad you see
the patch of sky, it gives balance
to the other parts of the drawing. Someone mentioned the trees look like they are dancing, so I guess it's open to interpitation. I just drew them as I saw them:)
