This is painted from a photo? It has a great sense of the "here and now" as if you painted it from life. Very nicely done! I especially like the influence of the sky on the snow.
Bill, I'm glad you mention when you paint from a photo; I've read so many articles that tell you to stay away from them, I almost feel guilty doing it. So many ideas and inspirations come from them- we shouldn't ignore them.
Thank you Lokelani! Acually it was warmer than usual, about 17 degrees,(from below 0 windchills)
Hi Celeste! Thanks! I see this scene everymorning, it's from my driveway. So when I painted it, it felt like home.
Hi Judy! For a long time I also felt it was wrong to use photo's,( an art instructors rule) However I recieved better council from a book by Norman Rockwell,"How I make a painting" He talks about "tools" from pencils to projectors. I also am a fan of Dave Darrow, or "Dave the painting guy" Dave gave me a down to earth approach that helped break through some old belief systems, (that was holding me back.) It's all hard work, so have fun doing it! Your art is the sum of your efforts.
Hey ive always been told its a major no no to paint from photographs , but i rarely have the time to make sketched / paintings on the spot ... glad to see others do it as well ...

Lovely, lovely scene. Cold, but lovely.

Simz, sometimes you gotta break to rules, just don't let the art cops catch ya.
Acually, painting from a photo can be a lot of fun!
