Front yard

This is a scene in my front yard.
The nest in the tree is home to some gray squirrels.
I painted this at the studio from memory,(no photos)
as an exercise, and had a little wine.
5"x7"Oils on gesso'd board. 2hrs.

From memory! Wow thats pretty good, the composition is really strong too. I love the coolness the painting has, you have played with variation of blues very well in your background and middle ground. I especially like the silhouette of the squirrel coming down the tree, keep up the great work Bill!

Boy, you have a good memory! Great color and mood, and sense of distance. Gee I wish I could paint as quickly as you- did you have to really practice that, or is it natural for you?

Thank you all very much!
Cindy, Johnathan, and Judy, I'd like to say that pictures,(paintings, drawings, ect.) can
be story tellers.
Stories stire the imagination.
Imagination,(I feel)is what allows one to pioneer their creative genius.
When I imagine, I'm at a place where possibilities can happen.
This is an area N.C. Wyeth went.(And others)
This is the road less traveled.
It's fun to make it your own!

I can't paint if I have wine so I think you have done well, here. Squirrels are so maligned but I think they're cute and facinating.

Thanks Mary! I wanted to paint during a casual
conversation with a friend artist.
Fridays if possible we have some wine, and discuss ways to do a painting.
Paiting from memory is always fun, as there is no limit to the places you can go.
So of all the places I could be, I chose my
own front yard!
The gray squirrels,(painted here) are friendly.
It's the red ones that can be little devils!

Bill, I hope you'll do more memory paintings--this one is especially evocative--it looks late in the day..makes me think of the long shadows of life!
